CROSS COUNTRY

Consol girls win district title: ROUND ROCK -- The A&M Consolidated girls cross country team took six of the top 10 spots to win the District 12-5A title Friday at Old Settlers Park.

Consol finished with 29 points to beat defending champion Belton (40 points). Harker Heights finished third with 93 points.

Individually, Consol's Karis Jochen took second by finishing the 3,200-meter course in 11 minutes, 58 seconds. Chaiss Matthews (12:06), Sally Hays (12:13) and Amy Bingaman (12:21) finished 5-6-7 while Kristen Bettiol was ninth in 12:25. Jordan Bettiol (12:26) was 10th and Katy Williams (12:40) finished 12th.

Consol will run in the Class 5A Region II meet at Vandergriff Park in Arlington on Nov. 7.

Consol's JV girls won with 20 points. Belton took second at 58. Anikka Lekven, Chanler Havel, Oksana Hays, Laura Casper and Lindsay Berry finished 2-3-4-5-6 for Consol.

Consol's freshman girls team also won with 15 points. Consol's Anna Dement, Madison Becker, Hannah Mayfield, Linnea Hetland and Haley Reim took the top five individual spots.

GOLF

Lady Tigers tied for second: FERRIS -- The A&M Consolidated girls golf team is tied for second in the Mansfield tournament at The Old Brickyard Golf Course after shooting a school-record 14-over 294.

The Lady Tigers broke the Consol school record for one round with a 14-over 294. Consol's Casey Grice leads the medalist race at 4-under 66, while Angela No shot 74. Lauren Ballenger and Haley Green each shot 77, and Shikhi Cheruku shot 83.

The second round is set for Saturday.

VOLLEYBALL

Consol drops warm-up match to Lake Travis: ELGIN -- The A&M Consolidated volleyball team lost 25-17, 25-27, 25-22, 23-25, 18-16 to Lake Travis on Friday in a warm-up match.

Consol's Shelby Dickson had 19 kills and three aces while teammate Erika Arthur had 20 kills. Kelsey Kinley had 25 digs. Bailey Gillum had 46 assists, and Karla Gilbert had six blocks.

Consol (31-8) will play Tyler John Tyler at Fairfield at 7 p.m. Monday in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
