UIL volleyball schedule set

Eagle Staff Report

The Brenham Cubettes begin play at the UIL state volleyball tournament Thursday, the first of three Brazos Valley teams set for state semifinals.

Brenham (40-6) faces Richardson Pearce (45-5) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Texas State University's Strahan Coliseum.

Normangee plays Louise at 9 a.m. Friday in the first Class A semifinal. Both teams ousted defending regional champions in the respective regional finals. Normangee (31-10) defeated Iola and Louise beat Shiner.

Two-time 3A Region III champion Caldwell (31-12) has its semifinal set for 1 p.m. Friday against Monahans (40-5).

UIL volleyball championships

AUSTIN -- The 2009 UIL State Volleyball Championships will be held Thursday-Saturday at Strahan Coliseum on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos.

Thursday, Nov. 19

Semifinals

Class 2A

White Oak (44-0) vs. Poth (36-10), 1 p.m.

Peaster (36-4) vs. Aubrey (36-9), 3 p.m.

Class 4A

Canyon Randall (40-1) vs. Seguin (32-13), 5 p.m.

Richardson Pearce (45-5) vs. Brenham (40-6), 7 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 20

Semifinals

Class 1A

Louise (39-4) vs. Normangee (31-10), 9 a.m.

Bronte (39-5) vs. Lindsay (35-10), 11 a.m.

Class 3A

Monahans (40-5) vs. Caldwell (31-12), 1 p.m.

Lucas Lovejoy (41-7) vs. Wimberley (33-12), 3 p.m.

Class 5A

Amarillo (46-3) vs. Georgetown (39-9), 5 p.m.

Katy Cinco Ranch (40-6) vs. Austin Westlake (38-6), 7 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 21

Class 1A final, 9 a.m.

Class 2A final, 11 a.m.

Class 3A final, 1 p.m.

Class 4A final, 3 p.m.

Class 5A final, 5 p.m.
