A crowded field of Brazos Valley volleyball teams returns to the court Tuesday for regional quarterfinal matches.

Seventh-ranked A&M Consolidated plays its third playoff match in Fairfield and meets Garland Sachse (31-11), which ousted District 12-5A's Belton in the area round. Sachse's Melissa Olivares had 15 kills and 11 digs in the three-game victory, and setter Lainey Clark was credited with 35 assists. Sachse is making a repeat appearance in the regional quarterfinals.

Consol (33-8), a Region II tournament team in 2008, defeated Richardson 25-16, 25-21, 25-19 on Saturday.

Two matches will be played in Bryan-College Station. Viking Gym will host No. 10 Iola, which won the Region III-A title in 2008, against North Zulch in an 8 p.m. match. Burton and Round Top-Carmine, who split their two district matches, start at 7 p.m. at Consol's Tiger Gym. Burton, RTC and Fayetteville shared the 26-A district championship.

No. 21 Normangee, the team that Iola defeated to lock up the regional championship last season, plays Goodrich at 6:30 p.m. at Blinn College in Brenham.

Class 4A's seventh-ranked team, Brenham, plays 18-4A rival Magnolia at Huntsville High School. Brenham swept both district matches this year. In the 4A Region III championship match last year, Magnolia beat the Cubettes.

Class 3A's 18th-ranked Caldwell Lady Hornets, who won the 24-3A championship this season, play Tarkington at 6 p.m. at Magnolia West.

In one of Class 2A's highlight showdowns, Leon draws 2008 regional finalist White Oak for an opportunity to qualify for the Region III tournament, which starts Friday at the University of Texas-Tyler. White Oak is ranked second and Leon is seventh.

Third-ranked Centerville aims for a return to the regional tournament, taking on No. 19 Warren in Lufkin.

Milano and Cayuga square off again after playing each other in regional quarterfinals last year, with Cayuga advancing to the regional tournament by sweeping three games. Cayuga is third and Milano 13th for this match.

Unranked Franklin meets No. 14 Arp in a regional quarterfinal match at Navarro College in Corsicana. The schools will also face off in football Friday in Corsicana.
