Bryan girls earn first tournament title: GALVESTON -- The Bryan girls soccer team captured the first tournament championship in program history by beating Conroe Oak Ridge 3-0 in the final of the Galveston Ball Lady Tors Tournament on Saturday.
The Lady Vikings won two matches Saturday to go 5-0 in the tourney. Bryan defeated Alief Taylor 8-0 in the semifinal round.
Bryan was making its debut under new coach Amy Pettibone, who replaced Aminadab Delgado.
Dani Fellows, Taylor Erickson and Deanna Jimenez delivered goals in the championship match. Kylie O'Connor and Candace Ramsdell led the Bryan defense against Oak Ridge.
Sierra Garcia scored two goals and had two assists in the victory over Alief Taylor. Laura Briner added a goal and an assist.
The Lady Vikes will start the I-10 Shootout in Katy on Thursday.

Consol girls third at Blue Bell tourney: BRENHAM -- The A&M Consolidated girls soccer team split a pair of matches Saturday to finish third at Brenham's Blue Bell Invitational.
Consol dropped its semifinal match against Seven Lakes, 1-0. The Lady Tigers bounced back to beat Langham Creek, 2-0, at Hohlt Park.
Sophomore Blake Martin and senior Emily Smith scored goals against Langham Creek. Smith and Martin were joined by Consol freshman Grace Wright on the all-tournament team.
Consol opened the season with two victories Friday.
The Lady Tigers will take on the host team to start the Round Rock Tournament on Thursday.
