Brown, Plair earn top times at Save Our Streets Ministries 5K: Save Our Streets Ministries held its second annual Joe Conway Memorial 5K Run & Walk on April 24 at Traditions Club in Bryan. Jeff Brown was the top male runner with a time of 18 minutes, 19 seconds. Jennifer Plair was the top female runner at 20:09. Morgan Livingston and Alexander Sanchez finished first among the youth division with a time of 24:02.

Schueckler wins four events at Brazos Valley Senior Games: Brazos Splash Masters swimmer Leslie Schueckler won four events in the Brazos Valley Senior Games at the Texas A&M Rec Center on April 30.

Competing in the 55-59 age group, Schueckler won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:43), 200 breaststroke (3:48), 50 butterfly (41.28) and 50 breaststroke (47.12). Schueckler also took second in the 200 individual medley (3:30), 100 IM (1:35) and 50 freestyle (36.85).

Local team wins consolation bracket: STAFFORD -- The College Station Tigers eighth-grade boys basketball team went 2-1 and won the consolation bracket at a road tournament May 1-2. Team members are Arthur Vivero, Ryan Stavinoha, Mike Robinson, Tyler Hollas, Carlos Malave, Vince Walker, Ari Safi, Logan Schaefer, Bard Kennady, V.J. Banks, Ryan Wagner, B.J. Franklin and Zack Smith. The team is coached by Stephen Hollas.

Wrath finishes fourth in Prime Time Tournament: KATY -- The Central Texas Wrath took second in its pool and placed fourth out of 20 teams overall at the Prime Time Katy qualifying tournament on May 15-16. The Wrath won its first four games before a loss in bracket play. The team has qualified for the Prime Time Nationals in Dallas.

Team members are: Rejhia Dickey, Micayla Gooden, Callie Eddens, Madison Becker, Amanda Gooch, Cierra Thomas, Tierra Tucker, Morgan Smith, Elizabeth Hailey and Hannah Dailey. The team is coached by Doug Becker and Jason Gooch.

Wellmann hits hole-in-one: College Station's Rodney Wellman hit a hole-in-one on the par-3 13th at Pebble Creek Country Club on May 20. Wellmann used a 6-iron on the 155-yard hole. The shot was witnessed by Mike Skinner.

Brazos Sailing Club holds regatta: SOMERVILLE -- The Brazos Sailing Club held its Snake Island Regatta at Lake Somerville on May 22.

In the centerboard boat class, Joe Castiglioni took first while Hans Van Buijtenen took second.

In the keelboat class, George Weber took first, Grant Wolfe second and Ozzie Burke third.

Local shooters place at skeet championships: The Brazos County 4H Sportsman Club hosted the Texas Junior Olympic International Skeet Championships at the Boswell Porter Range in Snook on May 15. Bryan's Nash Porter placed second with a score of 115 out of 125, and Caldwell's Philip Jungman placed third with a score of 115. In the women's division, College Station's Gayla Gregory placed second.

BASEBALL

Summer camp registration open: Registration for the Texas A&M summer baseball camps is under way on aggieathletics.com.

Eight camps are available and run throughout July. A day camp also is scheduled in late August.

Brenham Baseball camp dates: The Annual Brenham Baseball Camp is Monday-Thursday at Brenham High School.

The basic camp is for players ages 6-12 and is held 9 a.m. to noon each day. The camp covers hitting, defensive positions and throwing mechanics. Cost is $150.

The pitching camp is for ages 6-14 and is 12:15-1:15 p.m. each day. Cost is $50.

Local tournaments being held: BCS Baseball will be hosting a youth baseball tournament in Bryan-College Station on June 26-27.

Rising Stars holding tournament: SAN ANTONIO -- The 2010 College Prospects of America Firecracker Invitational is set for July 2-4 in San Antonio.

GOLF

Registration open for junior golfers summer programs: Junior golfers ages 6 to 18 who wish to participate in the Southern Texas PGA's summer 2010 Junior Tour, Junior Links Tour and Little Linksters programs may register online at www.stpga.com.

All three programs operate throughout southern Texas and are administered through seven areas -- Austin, Beaumont, Bryan-College Station, Corpus Christi, Houston, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley.

Little Linksters is now available to youngsters ages 6-12 and the Junior Tour is available to youngsters ages 10-18.

HOCKEY

Arctic Wolf offering hockey lessons: Arctic Wolf Ice Center's Wolf Pack Hockey School is offering skating and hockey lessons through the summer for children of all ages and skill levels.

Lessons are offered every Sunday and Monday night at the Arctic Wolf Ice Center. Programs include Mighty Mites for children age 3-7, Cub 1-3 for beginners over 7 and Wolf 1-2 for more advanced players.

Classes are 30 to 45 minutes long and provide instruction on basic skating skills as well as stick and puck handling. Program costs range from $135-175 for eight weeks of instruction. Equipment such as helmet, stick and pads are available for rent.

A&M softball registering for summer camps: Registration is under way for the Texas A&M softball camp.

Dates for the summer camps are Sunday-Wednesday for ages 13-18 and Thursday through June 20 for ages 9-12.

SPORTS CAMPS

Vikings holding summer sports camps: The Bryan Vikings are offering sports camps in basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, track and softball this summer. The camps are directed by the Viking coaching staff and offer a comprehensive program of skill work, game play and rules education.

Each camp includes demonstrations and presentations throughout the week by coaches and former athletes.

TRACK & FIELD

College Station track club starting: Registration for the College Station track club has started. The club will run Monday through Thursday each week through June 24 at College Station Middle School.

Runners born from 1994-1999 practice from 8-9 a.m. while runners born from 2000-2005 practice from 9-10 a.m. Cost is $75 per runner.

The club will hold two local meets against Franklin, Caldwell, Bellville, Hearne and Bryan.

VOLLEYBALL

A&M holding volleyball camp: Registration continues for the Texas A&M volleyball camp. Applications and online registration are available at AggieAthletics.com/camps/w-volley-camp.html.

An All Skills/Position Camp I for players entering grades five through 10 is July 5-7. Position Camp II is July 9-11, and Position Camp III is July 13-15. Both camps are for players entering grades five through 12.

For players entering grades nine through 12, an Advanced Camp is being held on July 17-20 and a Team Camp is July 22-24.

RESULTS

College Station wins dual meet against Bryan: The Bryan Barracudas boys team tied the College Station Tsunamis boys, while the Tsunamis won overall 364-262 at a dual meet May 22.

Bryan swimmers set 20 new individual team records at the meet, including all of the 15-18 boys' records. In that division, Cullen Tolmsoff set records in the 50-yard freestyle, 50 butterfly and 100 individual medley and Cody Smith set records in the 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 100 freestyle. In the 13-14 boys' division, Joshua Coleman set records in the 100 freestyle and 50 backstroke, Jarred Sloan set a record in the 50 butterfly and Mario Paez set a 50 breaststroke record. Marco Gutierrez set records in the 11-12 boys' 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle. In the 9-10 boys' division, Christopher Coleman set records in the 100 I.M., 25 butterfly and 25 breaststroke.

The Bryan girls set records in the 100 freestyle in three age divisions: Melissa Williams for the 15-18 girls, Alanis King in the 13-14 girls and Nicolle Dacumos in the 9-10 girls (1:09.91). Dacumos also set a record in the 25 backstroke.
