Consol opens district with win: TEMPLE -- A&M Consolidated opened District 12-5A play with an 8-2 victory over Temple on Wednesday.

Kevin Bishop (4-1) struck out eight to pick up the win..

The Tigers scored three runs in the third and fifth innings. They played small-ball in the third with three bunt singles, two walks and a sacrifice fly. In the fifth, Bishop and Colby Turton singled and scored on Andrew Brown's double. Brown then scored on Riley Ferrell's double.

Consol will host Bryan at 7 p.m. Friday.

GOLF

Bryan sets time for middle school signups: Youth golfers attending Bryan ISD middle schools can sign up for the Bryan golf team at 6 p.m. Monday at the Bryan High School fieldhouse in classroom No. 1.

Bryan varsity golf coach Ron Newhouse will conduct the signups. Students at Davila, Jane Long, Sam Rayburn and SFA Middle Schools are eligible.

SOCCER

Bryan girls to face Tyler Lee: The Bryan girls soccer team will face Tyler Lee in the Class 5A bi-district round of the playoffs at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Tyler Lee.

The Eagle mistakenly reported Bryan would play Tyler John Tyler in Wednesday's edition.
