Navasota wins team title in Madisonville: MADISONVILLE -- The Navasota boys powerlifting team won first place at the Madisonville Invitational Meet on Monday.

It was the third consecutive first place finish for the Rattlers. Navasota's Brian Vizuet (123 pounds), Ricardo Aguilar (198), Rodney Brown (220), Dewon Davis (275) and Cedric Collins (heavyweight) won their divisions, while Darius Mallard (114) and Stephen Jefferson (123) placed second and Tyler Gessner (181) and Juan Nunez (198) finished third. Mario Vizuet (165) and John Acosta (132) both finished fourth.

Navasota will compete on Feb. 13 in Caldwell.

Rudder girls fall to Conroe: The Rudder girls soccer team lost to Conroe 5-0 on Tuesday.

Ashley Atkins and Katie McFarland were defensive standouts for Rudder (5-2).

Bryan boys drop home game to Belton: The Bryan boys soccer team was shut out by Belton 2-0 at Merrill Green Stadium on Tuesday in District 12-5A play.

The Bryan JV beat Belton 2-1 as Alex Degelman and Jose Cortez each scored goals.

Bryan (1-1 in 12-5A) will host Temple at 7 p.m. Friday.

Consol girls shut out Killeen: The A&M Consolidated girls soccer team beat Killeen 3-0 on Tuesday in District 12-5A play.

Consol totaled 47 shots and Morgan Anderson, Katie Berlund and Emily Smith each scored goals. Parya Patlan and Viky Wilhelm picked up assists for the Lady Tigers.

Consol's JV also won 7-0 with Kalli Krivdo and Carolina Oris each scoring two goals. Karla Montes, Lindsay Allen and Emme Rettenmaier also scored goals.

Consol will host Copperas Cove at 7 p.m. Friday.

Consol boys beat Shoemaker: The A&M Consolidated boys soccer team beat Killeen Shoemaker 11-0 on Tuesday in District 12-5A play.

Nicos Georghiades led the Tigers with three goals and one assist while Yanni Georghiades had two goals and two assists. Ryan Armatys added two goals while Andrew Meyer had two assists. Dante Tapia and Kolby Graff each scored one goal and one assist while Ryan Bruffett and Camilo Clavijo scored one goal apiece.

Consol's Henry Benoux and Matt Mjelbe shared time in goal for the shutout.

The Consol JV A (2-0) won 11-0 while the JV B (1-0) won 6-0.

Consol (5-7, 2-0) will play at Copperas Cove at 7 p.m. Friday.

WRESTLING

Bryan boys take Showdown: The Bryan wrestling team defeated A&M Consolidated 38-31 on Tuesday in the Crosstown Showdown to claim the District 25-5A regular-season title with a 5-0 record.

The host Vikings (19-4) got pins from Fabian Diaz at 103 pounds and Kevin White at 140, major decisions by Edgar Davila (125) and Victor Thomas (135) and decisions from Logan Meekma (119) and Saul Ramirez (152). Bryan's Rafael Aguilar and Kendall Gilbert also won by forfeit at 112 and heavyweight.

For the Tigers, Jon Shugart won by pin at 130 as did Ericson Caldwell at 215. The Tigers gained overtime decisions from Frank Chang (160) and Wes Cox (171). Consol also scored on decisions by Jacob Wilson (145) and Jericho Farmer (189). The Tigers' Dustin Tschirhart (180) won by forfeit.

In the JV meet, Bryan's Nathan Jimenez, Jose Martinez and Ricky Seiggreen all recorded pins, while Consol's Trevor Croome won by decision.

Bryan and Consol will compete at the district meet at Killeen Shoemaker on Saturday.
