VOLLEYBALL

Rudder sweeps Madisonville: The Rudder volleyball team beat Madisonville 25-22, 25-12, 25-22 on Tuesday in District 24-3A.

Hailie Bagley led Rudder (16-7) with seven kills and two aces while teammate Sara DeLeon had five kills, six aces and 16 assists. Brooke Engel added 17 digs and four kills.

Rudder's JV team beat Madisonville 25-12, 25-19, while Rudder's freshmen won 25-10, 25-10. The Rudder JV team was led by Karri Zanek and Lindsey Liebengood.

Bryan outlasts Huntsville on road: HUNTSVILLE -- The Bryan volleyball team rallied to beat Class 4A Huntsville 25-21, 19-25, 18-25, 25-11, 17-15 on Tuesday.

Reagan Boenker led the Lady Vikings with 22 kills while Tiffany Regmund had 21 kills and 16 digs. Teammate Kaylee Piatt had 34 assists and seven aces. Jordan Cumpton had 14 digs.

Bryan (9-11) will open District 12-5A play by hosting Harker Heights at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Consol falters in loss to Tomball: Playing at A&M Consolidated Middle School due to a lighting issue at the high school, Consol and Tomball battled back and forth until the Lady Tigers' comeback attempt fizzled with Tomball winning 22-25, 16-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-3 on Tuesday.

Shelby Dickson led the Lady Tigers with 16 kills, while Kelsey Kinley had 22 digs. Teammate Bailey Gillum had 40 assists, and Texas A&M basketball recruit Karla Gilbert had four blocks.

Consol (17-7) will open District 12-5A play at Copperas Cove at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Blinn stays undefeated, beats Lee College: The Blinn College volleyball team remained undefeated with a 25-18, 25-22, 25-22 victory over Lee College on Tuesday.

Blinn (11-0) was led by Keidra Williams, who was celebrating her birthday Tuesday. Williams had eight kills, three aces and three blocks.

Blinn will play in Houston this weekend in the Willowbrook Sports Complex Patriot's Day Classic.

FOOTBALL

Davila 8th A 20, AMCMS 13: Dre Murphy, Anthony Veal and Colton Hunn each had touchdowns as the Davila eighth grade A team beat A&M Consolidated Middle School on Tuesday.

Hunn intercepted a pass and ran it back for a touchdown. Angel Guadaramma kicked Davila's only PAT.

Davila (1-0) will play at Brenham White at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Davila 8th B 39, AMCMS 6: Four different players scored touchdowns as the Davila eighth grade B team beat AMCMS.

Davila's Jordan Mendoza scored a touchdown while teammate Alex Flores scored another on a fumble return.

Davila (1-0) will play at Brenham White at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

AMCMS 21, Davila 7th A 7: Derrick Dick scored two touchdowns as the AMCMS seventh grade Maroon beat Davila 21-7 on Tuesday.

Dontrell Dock also scored a rushing touchdown for AMCMS. Defensively, the Cats were led by John Quill, Zach Smith and Ben Thornton.

Greg Murphy scored Davila's touchdown.

Davila (0-1) will play at Brenham White at 7 p.m. Tuesday while AMCMS will host Sam Rayburn.

AMCMS 21, Davila 7th B 0: Chris Lytle scored three touchdowns as the AMCMS seventh grade Silver shut out Davila on Tuesday.

Defensively, AMCMS was led by Chandler Coffman, Demetrius Williams and Randy Westmoreland.

Justin Garcia stood out for the Davila defense while teammate Braden Harris was the offensive standout.

Davila (0-1) will play at Brenham White at 7 p.m. Tuesday while AMCMS will host Sam Rayburn.

Blinn tops in NJCAA poll: Blinn topped the first regular season NJCAA/JCFootball.com poll released Tuesday.

After upsetting defending national champion Kansas' Butler County Community College on Aug. 29, Blinn received six of the seven first-place votes and 139 total poll points, nine points ahead of East Mississippi Community College and 10 ahead of Southwest Junior College Football Conference foe Navarro College.

High school season stats needed: Coaches wishing to include their season statistics in our Brazos Valley Leaderboard will need to have them faxed or emailed in by noon Wednesday each week.
