CROSS COUNTRY
Consol girls take second in Tomball: Keri Wood led the A&M Consolidated girls cross country team to a second-place finish in the Tomball Invitational on Friday at Spring Park.
Wood finished fourth out of 111 runners in 12 minutes, 29 seconds. Consol's Jordan Bettiol finished the 2-mile loop in sixth (12:35) while Katy Williams was 10th (12:52), Sally Hays 11th (12.52.5), Amy Bingaman 19th (13:12), Morgan Hartmann 20th (13:13) and Kristen Bettiol 21st (13:17).
Katy Cinco Ranch won the 15-team event with 32 points. Consol had 50 team points.
Consol's JV team placed five runners in the top nine finishers to win the team title in the 17-team field. Jordan Privett led Consol with a fifth-place finish at 13:40. Jenn Barrick was sixth (13:43), Avery Burns seventh (13:50), Anikka Lekven eighth (13:50.5) and Lyndsay Berry ninth (13:51). Also for Consol, Samantha Beach was 11th (13:57) and Michelle Kim 24th (14:57).
Consol will compete Saturday at the College Park Invitational.
FOOTBALL
Jane Long 7th White 22, Brenham Green B 0: Jane Long's Rich Davis scored on a 20-yard run in the victory over Brenham Green.
Michael Cadena also scored on a 50-yard fumble recovery while Terrence Morgan rounded out the scoring for Jane Long with a 15-yard TD run.
Jane Long travels to Brenham White on Tuesday.

Jane Long 7th Red 26, Brenham Green A 0: Jane Long's Joseph Clay scored on runs of 60 and 20 yards in the victory over Brenham Green.
Jane Long's Quinn Haynes and Joshua Gibbs also scored rushing touchdowns, while JaCorey Jones had four sacks.

Sam Rayburn Blue 7th 32, CSMS Maroon 7: Tavion Wilson played a role in all five touchdown for Sam Rayburn, running for four scores and finding Lane Mullins for a 44-yard touchdown pass.
Alex Casteneda kicked two PATs for Sam Rayburn. Defensively, Paden Sisco, Brian Vanetta and Robert Lee played well.
Sam Rayburn hosts AMCMS on Tuesday.

Sam Rayburn Gold 7th 8, CSMS White 0: Sam Rayburn's Cameron McCan scored the game's only touchdown, and Corey Johnson kicked the PAT.
Defensively for Sam Rayburn, Tre Hines recovered a fumble, and Carlos Lucio had an interception, while Jeremy Pfuntner, Tristan Everett and Austin Marisco played well.
Sam Rayburn hosts AMCMS on Tuesday.

Sam Rayburn Gold 8th 32, CSMS White 6: Sam Rayburn's Ryan Way threw three touchdown passes, and Thomas Barr had six catches for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Sam Rayburn's Michael Carlos caught the other two touchdown passes. Defensively, DeMarcus Bircher had three interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, and teammate Juaquin Leon kicked four PATs.
CSMS's Austin Stephen returned an interception for a touchdown. Scott Wilding, Andrew Lightsey played well defensively.
Sam Rayburn (2-0-1) plays at AMCSM on Tuesday while CSMS travels to SFA.

CSMS Maroon 34, Sam Rayburn Blue 30: CSMS's Henry Taylor ran for two touchdowns while Curtis Grice threw two touchdowns to Taylor and Jansen Soltis.
Xavier Crouch scored CSMS's last touchdown on a run and Cole Anderson kicked two PATs. Defensively, A.J. Gunyev and Ben Kennedy played well.
CSMS travels to SFA on Tuesday.

AMCMS 8th Silver 20, Brenham Green 0: AMCMS's Garret Carstens scored on a 25-yard touchdown run while teammate Drew Chambers caught an 11-yard touchdown reception from Jaylan Chesire. Chesire also had a 55-yard touchdown run.
Defensive standouts were Tanner Jasperson (two fumble recoveries), Alex Briones (fumble recovery), Dillion Moore and Jacob Cook.
AMCMS plays Sam Rayburn on Tuesday.

AMCMS 8th Maroon 20, Brenham White 8: AMCMS's Logan Howell had touchdown runs of 5 and 30 yards while teammate Xavier Jones had a 15-yard TD run. AMCMS's Daniel Hulse threw a pass for a two-point coversion to Josh Kipp and Jimmie Gilbert had a two-point conversion run.
AMCMS's defensive standouts were Daniel Hulse (fumble recovery), Ty Lott, Jamarcus Wright and Jacob Ayres.

Blinn moves up in NJCAA rankings: The Blinn College football team moved up to No. 6 in the NJCAA poll after defeating Tyler Junior College 52-3 in the Bucs' home opener. With the victory, the Bucs improve to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference.
Blinn travels to Athens to play No. 17 Trinity Valley Community College on Saturday.
VOLLEYBALL
Rudder falls to Madisonville: The Rudder volleyball team dropped a District 24-3A match to Madisonville 25-16, 25-10, 25-10 on Tuesday.
Brooke Engel led the Rangers with five kills, 10 digs and three aces, while Andrea Earwood added five kills and eight digs.
The Rudder JV team beat Madisonville 25-21, 25-20. Playing well for Rudder were Lindsey Liebengood, Englesh Rhodes and Karisa Bernal. The Madisonville freshmen beat Rudder 25-13, 25-6. Becca Kirkpatrick and Abby Phillips played well for Rudder.
Rudder will host Rockdale on Friday.
