Consol's Dudley wins award at Kansas: Former A&M Consolidated football player Drew Dudley received the University of Kansas' Most Improved Defensive Player award at the Jayhawks' annual football banquet.

Dudley started at middle linebacker last season as a junior, recording 88 tackles (48 solo) and three sacks.

SOFTBALL

Bryan splits pair Saturday at Elkins Tournament: The Bryan softball team lost to Montgomery and beat Houston Bellaire on Saturday night at the Fort Bend Elkins Tournament.

The Lady Vikings (9-5) topped Bellaire 10-6 behind Jennifer Kasper's two home runs -- including a grand slam -- and six RBIs. Reagan Boenker added a double and a home run.

Emily Peirce (3-4) took the loss in a 7-0 Montgomery victory.

Bryan hosts A&M Consolidated at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

TRACK & FIELD

Consol girls win Lamar Consolidated ISD Invite: The A&M Consolidated girls track and field team finished first Friday at the Lamar Consolidated ISD Invite.

The Lady Tigers outpointed Terry, 209-111.

Consol was strong in the long-distance runs. Sally Hayes won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter races. Katy Williams was second in the 3,200 and Amy Bingaman was fourth, while Bingaman was second in the 1,600 and Anikka Lekven was third.

Chaiss Matthews was first in the 800, with Lekven third and Oksana Hays fourth.

The Lady Tigers also fared well in the shorter races.

The 4x100 relay team of Karrian Chambers, Mindy Davis, Meshia Wilborn and Unique King finished second. King was third in the 100 and fourth in the 200, while Davis and Matthews finished third and sixth, respectively, in the 400.

In the 100 hurdles, Ashley Adeyemi was second, Katerreah Britton third and Markia Houston fifth. Adeyemi finished second in the 300 hurdles and Houston was third.

The 4x400 relay team of Davis, Matthews, Avery Scheer and Natalie Raisor was second. The 4x200 squad of Raisor, Wilborn, Javan Booker and Markea Johnson finished third.

Consol had three first-place finishes in field events. Abby Piper won the high jump, Catherine Chenault won the pole vault and Karla Gilbert won the shot put.

Kaleigh Vincent was third in the high jump, Adeyemi was second in the triple jump and Victoria Quintana was sixth in the shot put. Kendall Williamson was fifth and Paxton Hunter sixth in the pole vault, while Hailey Reynolds was fourth and Gilbert fifth in the discus.

Consol's next meet is Thursday at Kingwood Park.
