POWERLIFTING

Consol sets school records: A&M Consolidated set a pair of school records at the Copperas Cove powerlifting meet Saturday.

Chris Ceazer won the 181-pound class with 1,240 pounds. He set the school record in bench press with 335 pounds, which also set a Cove meet record. Cade Walker was fourth in the 275-pound class (1,320), setting the school bench press record with a lift of 375 pounds, which also tied the Cove meet record.

The Consol boys finished second to Belton, while the girls were third behind Cove and Belton.

Other winners for the Tiger boys were Zerrick Merchant, 123-pound class (960 pounds); David Levias, 190-pound class (1,100); and J.J. Bynum, 275-pound class (1,385). Other Tigers placing were Aaron Terry, second in the 114-pound class (635); Riley Martinez, fourth in 148-pound class (910); Dillion Smith, fourth in 242-pound class (1,195); and Wyatt Smith, third in super heavyweight class (1,255).

Lady Tigers winning were Alleen Alley in the 105-pound class (525), Madison Becker in the 148-pound class (640), Christina Salas in the 181-pound class (625) and Bri Holtkamp in the 198-pound class (695). Jackie Gonzales was fourth in the 123-pound class (540).

Consol JV member Zach Cheyne was third in the 132-pound class (810) at the Elgin varsity meet.

Consol's JV team will be at Madisonville on Tuesday with the varsity teams at Taylor on Saturday.
