FOOTBALL

Navasota players make college choices: Two Navasota football players have accepted scholarship offers, including one who will be heading to the Big 12 Conference.

Aleon Calhoun, a 6-foot-6, 300-pound offensive lineman, plans to sign with Texas Tech on national signing day next week, according to Navasota coach Lee Fedora.

Quarterback Kye Hildreth will sign with Lamar.

Hildreth and Calhoun were members of one of the most potent offenses in the Brazos Valley last season. Hildreth passed and ran for nearly 3,000 total yards and produced 39 touchdowns.

SOCCER

Rudder beats Bryan JV: The Rudder girls soccer team defeated Bryan's JV 2-0 on Monday.

Brooke Engel and Mara Boyd scored for the Lady Rangers, while Kaitlyn Lampley got the shutout in goal.

Rudder's JV and Bryan's JV B team played to a scoreless tie.

Rudder (4-1) will travel to La Grange on Friday for a 4 p.m. match.
