CROSS COUNTRY

AMCMS teams finish second in Lexington: The A&M Consolidated Middle School boys and girls cross country teams each finished second at the Lexington meet Wednesday.

Top boy finishers were Daniel Zivney (second, 11 minutes, 45 seconds), Kyle Steel (fifth, 12:10), Thomas Hawkins (17th, 13:06), Jacob Altendorf (18th, 13:08) and Stuart Hennigar (19th, 13:10). Top girl finishers were Mamie Barnhardt (third, 13:29), Victoria Carraway (ninth, 14:12), Regan Schulman (17th, 14:44) Darcy Loupot (18th, 14:49) and Nicole Farrell (21st, 14:57).

The next meet for AMCMS is Sept. 28 in Cameron.

FOOTBALL

Bryan JV Blue 32, Round Rock McNeil 28: Darius Bass totaled 124 yards on three touchdown carries as the Bryan JV Blue team beat Round Rock McNeil on Thursday.

Bass had touchdowns of 1, 30 and 93 yards while Richard Harris had a 14-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Denareon Amos also found Cardrick Nicks with a 65-yard touchdown pass.

Defensively, Keith Wells and Tre Ross played well.

Bryan (3-0) plays at Killen Shoemaker at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Bryan JV Silver 13, Round Rock McNeil 6: Marvin Dowdy had a pair of 2-yard touchdown runs as the Bryan JV Silver team beat Round Rock McNeil on Thursday.

Defensively, Roman Grimaldo, Shavon Pennie, Mike Mower, Andrew Arrevalo played well.

Bryan (1-2) will play at Killeen Shoemaker at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Rudder JV 17, Magnolia West 14: JD Davenport threw two touchdown passes as the Rudder JV beat Magnolia West on Thursday.

Davenport found Semaj McGruder with an 11-yard scoring pass and Mouliq Hamilton with a 70-yard score. Blake Kopetsky made both PAT kicks and added a 33-yard field goal.

Hamilton also had an interception.

Rudder Freshmen 20, Hearne 14: Charles Williams scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 16-yard run to give the Rudder freshmen a victory over Hearne.

Rudder's Trey Hunter-Guyton found Justin Johnson with a 48-yard touchdown pass and added a 24-yard touchdown run.

Chance Jones had two fumble recoveries and Brady O'Neal led the Rangers in tackles.

Rudder (3-0) will host Navasota on Thursday.

Allen Academy Middle School 33, Temple Central Texas 19: John Bryan scored all five touchdowns as Allen Academy Middle School beat Temple Central Texas on Thursday.

Allen (2-1) will play at Temple Central Texas next week.

Brazos Christian Middle School 14, St. Joseph MS 0: Riley Garner punched in from the 4-yard line in the first quarter and Brazos Christian (3-0) went on to beat St. Joseph (0-2).

Kenny Honnas set up Garner's touchdown with a 27-yard run on third down. Honnas finished with 77 yards on seven carries. Garner had 20 carries for 86 yards and ran in a PAT.

On defense for BC, Brandon Bollin had eight tackles, including three for a loss, and Garner and Cooper Owen both had five. Owen also recovered two St. Joseph fumbles. Sam Thomasson had several big hits on defense and special teams and had a touchdown-saving pass breakup in the fourth quarter.

Up 6-0 and facing fourth down with 1:33 left in the game, Brazos Christian's Justin Duewall caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Cooper Wright to give the Eagles an insurance score.

For St. Joseph, Kyle Castilleja had a 34-yard run at the start of the second half. Kyle Locke and Matt Krause stood out on defense.

BC hosts Gause and St. Joseph hosts Anderson-Shiro on Thursday.

Navasota JV 21, Bellville 6: Jacob Malek threw two touchdown passes as the Navasota JV team beat Bellville on Thursday.

Malek found Roderick Jones with passes of 27 and 23 yards for touchdowns. Derick Byrd added a 63-yard touchdown run and Jorge Moran converted three PAT kicks.

Navasota (2-0) will play at Rudder next week.

Navasota 7th White 28, Bellville 6: Dominque Mallard scored three touchdowns as the Navasota seventh-grade White team beat Bellville on Thursday.

Mallard scored on runs of 20 and 55 yards and returned a kickoff 65 yards for a third touchdown. Brian Pursley scored the Rattlers' other touchdown on a 25-yard run.

Defensively, Paul Flores, Nick Gurka, Lorince Cude and Bryan Ramirez each played well.

Navasota will host Jane Long at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Bellville 7th 22, Navasota Blue 8: The Navasota seventh-grade blue team lost to Bellville.

Jebrell Lipscomb scored Navasota's lone touchdown on a 35-yard run. Christian Taylor caught a pass for the two-point conversion.

Offensively, Lamarquis Jefferson, Stephen Bonnain and Zackry Pavlock played well. Franteric Powell, Michael Martinez, Ro'Davion Brown and Coy Imhoff stood out for the defense.

Navasota will host Jane Long at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
