Most of the scores from the final round of the Lady Tiger Golf Classic had been posted when the Pebble Creek Country Club pro asked for a different marker, changing from black to red.

Casey Grice's score caused the switch. The A&M Consolidated senior finished the two-day tournament at 1 under par, a standing signified by red.

The 143 total for Grice and Consol's team score of 633 both were distinctive as the star player and host team repeated as tournament champions. The Lady Tigers got strong efforts from Angela No and Haley Green on Saturday to finish eight shots ahead of two-time defending Class 5A state champion Southlake Carroll.

Grice, the top-ranked girl in Texas high school golf, shot an even-par 72 in the second round, leaving her seven shots ahead of second-place finisher Brianna Murray of Southlake Carroll.

"It means a lot, especially since it's at home and it's a chance to show the people in the community how much they mean to me," Grice said. "I definitely wanted to repeat. I have a great time at this tournament. Everything about it is just awesome, being on the team and being able to sleep in my own bed."

The 5A state champion as a sophomore, Grice opened the Tiger Classic with a 71 -- the only sub-par round in the 15-team tournament.

"There's a lot of girls who can go out there and hit fairways and greens and make a lot of pars," Consol coach Mike Terral said. "Casey is a very aggressive player who goes for pins. If she misses the green because she was too aggressive, she has a great ability to get it up and down. To me, that's what separates her."

Grice's performance was exceptional but not unexpected. The Lady Tigers took the team title and boosted their hopes of challenging for a state crown thanks to the two-day performance of Green and a sizzling final round by No.

Green followed her opening 81 with an 82 for a 163 that was second on the team and tied for 13th overall. No fired a 75 for the second-lowest round of the day, bouncing back after shooting 89 on Friday.

"Angela was the star today," Terral said. "For her to come out and throw up a 75, that's pretty stout. She's flirted with some great rounds. She has some great shots but somehow not been able to finish all 18 holes without a little disaster here or there. Today she was able to avoid that."

The Lady Tigers will play in the Bryan Tournament on March 26-27 before starting postseason play with the District 12-5A tournament. Consol is hoping for a third consecutive trip to state after finishing fifth in 2008 and second last year.

"We're pleased to have won the tournament, but more importantly I think we're getting better," Terral said. "We're still having trouble with some girls holding it together for the whole round, but we're getting close."

Consol's Lauren Ballenger shot an 85 for a 167 total, and Shikhi Cheruku closed with an 84 to put her at 170.

Southlake Carroll matched the Lady Tigers' team score of 313 in the second round, moving past No. 2 Allen to finish in second place at 641. Allen shot 320 for a total of 647.

Bryan's girls finished in 12th place, posting a second-round 365 for a 745 total.

Kayli Clay led the Lady Vikings, shooting an 88 for a final score of 180. The other Bryan scores were: Tyler Sheffield (89-188), Mary Hicks (90-186), Taylor Bona (98-201) and Lizzi Alderete (119-212).

There were two individual medalists competing for Consol: Amanda Beard (92-186) and Savannah Batista (112-239).
