Navasota junior linebacker Kesnick Jones was a first-team selection on the 58th Annual Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association's Class 3A all-state football team.

Caldwell running back Kysan Woolverton, Rockdale defensive lineman Logan David and Navasota punter Kye Hildreth made the second team.

The 200-pound Jones had 150 tackles, including 21 tackles for losses, in leading the Rattlers to the quarterfinals.

Woolverton, a senior, had 1,675 yards rushing with 31 TDs in leading the Hornets to the regional semifianls.

Davis, also a senior, had 83 tackles, 23 of them for losses with six caused fumbles. Hildreth had a 41.1-yard average on 34 punts, putting eight inside the 10.

Hildreth, a senior, also played quarterback where he earned honorable mention as did Rockdale offensive tackle Le' Raven Clark.

In Class A voting, Somerville senior offensive tackle John Wiggins was a third-team selection. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound senior graded out at 96 percent with 27 pancake blocks and 21 downfield cuts.

Somerville senior linebacker Tony Negrete and Bremond linebacker D. Ray Morgan earned honorable mention.

In statewide voting, Cayuga running back Traylon Shead grabbed Class A offensive player of the year honors. The 215-pound Shead, who led Cayuga to the Division II state championship, rushed for 2,696 yards with 39 TDs. Canadian defensive lineman Ryan Alexander and Goldthwaite linebacker Colton Mitchell, shared defensive player of the year honors. Alexander had 20 tackles for losses, including 14 sacks. Mitchell had 213 tackles.

Gilmer quaraterback Darian Godfrey was the 3A offensive player of the year. The 208-pound Godfrey rushed for passed for 3,581 yards (254 of 357) with 42 TDs and only six interceptions. He added 848 yards rushing and 22 TDs in leading Gilmer to the Division I state championship. Carthage defensive lineman DeShun Williams was the defensive player of the year. The 270-pounder had 30 tackles for losses in leading his team to the Division II state title.

Pilot Point running back Jarman Johnson was the 2A offensive player of the year. The 170-pound Johnson rushed for 2,985 yards with 41 TDs in leading Pilot Point to the Division I state title.

Daingerfield linebacker Steve Edmond was the defensive player of the year. The 235-pounder had 34 tackles for losses, caused seven fumbles and had five interceptions, returning two for scores
