HEARNE -- Kenneth Jones' 8-yard touchdown run with 3 minutes left gave Hearne a 30-27 victory over Bremond on Friday.
Jones carried 17 times for 282 yards and three touchdowns, including runs of 89 and 72 yards. Hearne had 408 rushing yards and held Bremond to 143 yards on 40 carries.
Bremond's Ryan Rekeita scored on a 78-yard kickoff return and an 85-yard fumble recovery. Johnathon White and D. Ray Morgan each had 1-yard touchdown runs.
White finished with 54 yards on 17 carries and was 4-for-7 passing for 33 yards and one interception. Morgan had eight carries for 42 yards.
Hearne's Shedrick Taylor had an 11-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. DeMarcus Blue followed with a 13-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
Taylor finished with 54 yards on 11 carries and was 2-for-5 passing for 28 yards and two interceptions.
Hearne (1-0) plays at New Waverly on Friday, while Bremond (0-1) hosts Thorndale on Sept. 12.
