Here are the efforts by former Brazos Valley football players in the collegiate ranks last weekend. Players are included when they record statistics, start a game or reach career milestones. Players who are being redshirted, do not play or who play for Texas A&M are not included.

FOUR-YEAR COLLEGES

Patrick Edwards, Houston, WR (Hearne): The senior caught his longest touchdown pass of the season, a 75-yarder, in the second quarter in Houston's 30-14 win over Penn State in the TicketCity Bowl at Cotton Bowl Stadium on Jan. 2. Edwards also caught a 40-yard touchdown pass for the game's first points and finished with 10 receptions for 228 yards, a Houston bowl record. A 6-yard punt return gave him 234 all-purpose yards which led both teams. Edwards finished the season with 89 catches for 1,752 yards and 20 touchdown catches. He averaged over 125 yards per game and extended his school record and set a C-USA record with 17 career 100-yard receiving games. He hauled in a reception in his 48th consecutive game. Edwards also had 15 punt returns for 210 yards and one touchdown and scored 126 points this season. He finishes his collegiate career with 1,968 all-purpose yards.

Ahmard Howard, Texas, TE (Brenham): Howard recorded one solo tackle in the 21-10 win over California in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 28.

Jarrett Lee, LSU, QB (Brenham): Lee started in the Tigers' first 10 games of the season, finishing with a 152.04 passing efficiency after completing 104 of 167 passes for 1,306 yards. The senior threw 14 touchdown passes and only three interceptions.

Torlan Pittman, Southern Methodist, DT (Bryan): The senior started in the 28-6 win over Pittsburgh in the BBVA Compass Bowl. Pittman had one solo tackle, two tackle assists and one quarterback hurry. Pittman had a season-total of 37 tackles, including 15 solo tackles and six tackles for loss with a sack. He also had two quarterback hurries.

Luke Poehlmann, Texas, OL (Brenham): Poehlmann played in the Holiday Bowl win. The junior helped the offense gain 3,784 yards this season and he caught one pass for a 3-yard touchdown.

Ryan Roberson, Texas, LB (Brenham): Roberson finished the season with two catches for 12 yards and two kick returns for 20 yards. The junior also had one tackle assist this season and played in the Holiday Bowl win.

Justin Sorrell, Southern Methodist, DB (Brenham): Sorrell blocked and recovered a Pitt punt in the bowl win. The senior also returned a punt 14 yards, his first punt return of the season, and had a tackle assist. Sorrell had 19 solo tackles and 10 tackle assists this season with one tackle for loss. He also had three pass breakups and forced a fumble.

Chris Whaley, Texas, DE (Madisonville): The sophomore had a fumble recovery which led to a Texas touchdown in the Holiday Bowl win. Whaley had five tackles this season, including a sack for a 9-yard loss and another tackle for loss. He also had a pass breakup and three quarterback hurries.

Michael Walker, Utah, DB (Brenham): Walker caught one pass for six yards, his first of the seaon, in the 30-27 overtime win against Georgia Tech in the Sun Bowl on Dec. 31. He closed out his sophomore campaign with four solo tackles, seven tackle assists and a fumble recovery.

Alonzo Whaley, Nebraska, LB (Madisonville): The junior had a 14 yard kickoff return in the 30-13 loss to South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl on Jan. 2. Whaley saw time in all 13 games this season and finished with six solo tackles and five tackle assists, including two tackles for loss. The kickoff return in the bowl game was his first of the season.
