Offensive guard Adrian Bellard and defensive lineman Malcolm Brown are among four Brenham Cubs on the 61st Annual Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association's Class 4A All-State Football Team.

The 6-foot-5, 332-pound Bellard, who has pledged to Texas A&M, helped the 11-1 Cubs average 36.5 points per game. Brown (6-2, 295, sr.) had 16 tackles for losses and earned the District 17-4A MVP award.

Brenham wide receiver Tre'mund Moore and linebacker Tim Cole made the third team. Moore (6-1, 160, sr.) had 66 catches for 953 yards and 18 touchdowns. Cole (6-2, 215, sr.) had 24 tackles for losses and 17 quarterback pressures and was 17-4A's defensive MVP.

Cub quarterback Dean Haveman, linebacker Jerid Jeter-Gilmon and defensive back Shea Nutt earned honorable mention.

In statewide voting, Aledo running back Johnathan Gray was the offensive player of the year and Denton Ryan defensive lineman Mario Edwards was the defensive player of the year.

Gray rushed for 3,886 yards on 347 carries with 65 touchdowns. The 5-foot-10, 198-pounder who has pledged to the University of Texas added 26 catches for 517 yards and five touchdowns. The Parade All-American's 70 TDs are a state record. Gray was a unanimous first-team selection, the first in more than 30 years.

Edwards, also a Parade All-American, had 28 tackles for losses, including 10 sacks to be the defensive player of the year. The 6-4, 285-pounder will attend Florida State.

The TSWA all-state teams took into consideration the postseason while the Associated Press sports editors' teams last month did not.
