Brazos Valley Football Standouts -- Week Zero

Here are the Brazos Valley stars for Week Zero of the high school football season:

Hearne running back Kenneth Jones ran 17 times for 282 yards and three touchdowns to help the Eagles to a 30-27 win over Bremond. The Tigers' Ryan Rekeita had two touchdown returns, taking back a kickoff 78 yards and returning a fumble 85 yards.

A&M Consolidated junior running back Chris Nutall rushed for 194 yards on just seven carries and scored twice in a 44-39 home victory over Round Rock McNeil. Clinton Banks had 99 yards on 16 carries and scored twice.

Cody Holliday had 16 carries for 156 yards and a touchdown in Somerville's 40-31 win over Leon. Holliday hit 10 of his 14 passes for 177 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Holliday also had 63 return yards on kickoffs.

Holliday's chief target was Jeff Foster. The junior receiver had five catches for 101 yards and a TD.

Iola's Stephen Williamson ran 11 times for 150 yards and a touchdown in the Bulldogs' 38-21 win over St. Joseph, whose quarterback countered with a strong passing game. Alec Castilleja completed 12 of 29 passes for 200 yards for the Eagles.

Bryan quarterback Kesnick Taylor rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown and completed 4 of 7 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings' 52-42 loss to Cy-Falls. The Vikings also got a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Kevin Jefferson. Jefferson intercepted a Cy-Falls pass and returned it 40 yards.

Junior Montrell Crenshaw rushed 11 times for 112 yards and a touchdown in Burton's 20-14 loss to Weimar.

Navasota quarterback Kye Hildreth completed 10 of 12 passes for 221 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Rattlers to a 47-0 win over Henderson. Hildreth also ran for 106 yards and a score. Tevin Creeks caught five passes for 162 yards and three touchdowns.

Brenham's Ty Schlottmann completed 11 of 19 passes for 123 yards and three TDs, all to Terrell Reece, who had eight receptions for 103 yards. Sophomore Troy Green returned a kickoff 76 yards for a score in the Cubs' 37-14 victory over Katy Maye Creek.

In Cameron's 38-28 win over Waco Connally, James Wells rushed 22 times for 136 yards. Steven Townsend ran for 61 yards and a touchdown and completed 16 of 21 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns. Wells caught 6 passes for 54 yards and one TD.

In a 28-26 loss to Bellville, Caldwell fullback Kysan Woolverton ran 23 times for 132 yards and three touchdowns and quarterback D.J. Cumby hit 7 of 12 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown. Woolverton also averaged 37 yards on two kickoff returns.

Rockdale's Joe Sanders ran for a touchdown, passed for one and caught a scoring pass in a 42-20 win over Llano. At quarterback, Sanders completed 10 of 14 passes for 155 yards.

Matthew Jentsch rushed for 122 yards on 20 carries to help lift Milano to a 33-26 win over Waco Texas Christian.

Senior Brock Taylor ran 21 times for 175 yards and three touchdowns as the Madisonville Mustangs won in Groesbeck, 35-28.

In Brenham Christian's 74-0 win over Conroe Calvary, four defensive players scored points for the Eagles. Reagan Cameron had a safety, Roy Dawson returned an interception for a touchdown, and Ian Roskow and Azamat Pate returned fumbles for TDs.

Allen Academy's Gary Flemings ran 11 times for 149 yards and caught a scoring pass in the Rams' 46-0 win over Emery-Weiner.
