Lady Vikings win Brenham Tournament: BRENHAM -- The Bryan Lady Vikings basketball team improved its record to 8-1 en route to winning the Brenham Tournament title with a 71-39 blowout of Cypress Lakes on Saturday.

Carlisha Wyatt led all scorers with 16 points and had eight rebounds. Gia Ayers had 15 points and four steals, while Elizabeth Marrero poured in 12 points. Marrero was also named to the all-tournament team.

Bryan will host Madisonville in its home opener Monday, with the JV starting at 5 p.m. and the varsity following.

Rudder goes 1-2 at tournament: MAGNOLIA: Rudder beat Lufkin Hudson but lost to Katy and Cypress Ridge this weekend at the Magnolia Tournament.

Michael Jones led the Rangers in the 55-49 victory over Hudson with 11 points.

GYMNASTICS

Rudder girls take second at meet: ROUND ROCK -- The Rudder girls gymnastics team took second at its compulsory meet of the season, scoring 102.55 points to Round Rock's 111.6.

Freshman Christine Voneiff led Rudder with a third-place finish in the all-around, taking second on the floor and beam and third on the uneven parallel bars. Freshman Hannah Bernal placed sixth on the bars, and sophomore Kristal Alvarado was sixth on the beam.

Rudder will host A&M Consolidated, Alvin and Beaumont Ozen on Dec. 4.

WRESTLING

Bryan wrestling team finishes second: AUSTIN -- The Bryan boys wrestling team placed second out of 22 teams at the Capital City Classic on Saturday. The Vikings finished with 149.5 points, while champion Vista Ridge had 162.5.

Individually, Bryan's Kevin White claimed gold at 145 pounds. Bryan's runners-up were Logan Meekma (119), Victor Thomas (140), Tracey Hodges (152) and Denzel Brown (215).

The Vikings will host Cy-Fair, Georgetown and Vista Ridge at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Bryan's JV had two gold medalists and two silver medalists.
