Rengegades make national final: VIERA, Fla. -- The Brazos Valley Renegades won a pair of games Thursday to reach the championship game of the AAU 18/19U national baseball tournament.
The Renegades beat Tuscaloosa (Ala.) 5-2 in the quarterfinal round, then beat the Winegrass (Ga.) Colts 10-0 in the semifinals.
BV is 7-1 in the national tourney and 35-4-1 on the season.
The Renegades will play Tallahassee (Fla.) Baseball Club in the final at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
Former Brenham star Chase Wellbrock, who has signed with the University of Houston, pitched a complete game in the quarterfinal. Andrew Brown and Michael Todaro of A&M Consolidated had three hits apiece.
In the semifinal, Caldwell's Colton Eubanks pitched a one-hitter, retiring 15 consecutive batters after allowing a leadoff single. Garrett Vail of Belton had three hits for BV, which got two hits apiece from Bryan's Krey Bratsen, who has signed with Texas A&M, and Chance Bolcerek of Brenham, who has pledged to sign with the Aggies.

Ryan Johnson homers in U.S. victory: MANAGUA, Nicaragua -- College Station's Ryan Johnson hit one of five home runs by the USA Baseball 14U National Team during a 23-0 victory over Honduras in the COPABE Pan Am 'A' 14U Championships on Thursday.
Johnson, who will be an eighth-grader at College Station Middle School, started at first base and hit a three-run homer. Johnson is 3 for 9 in the tournament.
Team USA completed pool play with a 3-1 record, while Honduras dropped to 1-3. The Americans will play Venezuela in the semifinals Friday. The other semifinal matches Mexico against Brazil.
The championship game is set for Saturday.
FOOTBALL
A&M Consolidated set for camp, two-a-days: A&M Consolidated coaches will host the Tiger Football Camp on Monday through Thursday for students entering the ninth grade and below.
The camp will be designed to teach players fundamentals and skills, with sessions each day from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Consol football players from grades 10 through 12 will begin preseason two-a-day workouts on at 6 a.m. Aug. 9. The Tigers also will practice at 6 p.m.

Vikings set freshman camp: Bryan's incoming freshman football camp is set for Aug. 2-4 at the Bryan High School fieldhouse.
Incoming freshmen will work out each day from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Cost is $10.
