Wally Moon to throw first pitch at Bombers game: Former major leaguer Wally Moon will throw out the first pitch at the Brazos Valley Bombers game against the East Texas Pumpjacks at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark.

Moon won the 1954 National League Rookie of the Year with the St. Louis Cardinals and won two World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Sunday is "Super Hero Night" when the Bombers will honor all Brazos Valley fire department and police officials.

GOLF

College Station team in third at Texas Father-Son: Houston's Jordan and Craig Rumora are tied with Wayne and Ben Lundquist at 7-under 65 after the first round of the the Texas Father-Son Championship at Miramont Country Club.

Wayne Lundquist lives in Corpus Christi while his son Ben lives in Houston.

College Station's Steven and Andy Williams are in third at 67 with two rounds left in the gross four-ball format.

College Station's Mike and Max Miller lead the Nelson Flight at 63 in the net four-ball format.

The second round is set for Saturday.

SOFTBALL

Brenham, Consol players earn All-America honors: Brenham shortstop Emily Albus was a first-team selection and A&M Consolidated catcher Sarah Allison made the third team on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association High School All-America softball teams announced Friday.

Albus, who has signed to play for Texas A&M, made the NFCA All-America team for the fourth consecutive year. She hit .617 as a senior and stole 70 bases for the second consecutive season.

Allison signed with Sam Houston State. She hit .434 for the Lady Tigers, leading the team with seven home runs and 45 runs batted in.

Bryan senior shortstop Ashley Lara, Albus and Allison previously were named to the NFCA South Central Region first team. Consol junior pitcher Sarah Halliwell made the regional second team.
