Bryan drops game in tournament: THE WOODLANDS -- The Bryan baseball team lost to Klein Collins 17-7 in the College Park Tournament on Thursday.

Bryan's Krey Bratsen was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

Bryan (8-4-1) will continue play in the tournament against Kingwood at 5 p.m. Friday.

Consol's Bishop perfect in victory: DUNCANVILLE -- Kevin Bishop didn't allow a baserunner over a perfect five innings as A&M Consolidated beat Oklahoma's Moore High School 13-0 on Thursday in the Duncanville Tournament.

Bishop (3-1) also was 1 for 2 with a double. Teammate Caleb Breebe was 2 for 3 while Shelby Robinson was 1 for 2 with a double.

Consol (9-3) will continue play in the tournament against Mesquite Poteet at 5 p.m. Friday.

BASKETBALL

Corona named to all-star game: Mumford senior Eric Corona has been selected to play in the 11th Texas Roundup All-star game set for March 20 in Maypearl.

The Texas Roundup chooses what its considers the state's top 24 boys and 24 girls senior players from Class A, 2A and 3A.

The girls game is scheduled for 3 p.m. Corona will play in the boys contest at 5 p.m. Admission is $5. Maypearl is located on FM 66, approximately 10 miles west of Waxahachie and 15 miles north of Hillsboro.

SOFTBALL

Bryan's Lara sets record: FARMERS BRANCH -- Ashley Lara tied a school record with her sixth career home run as the Bryan Lady Vikings defeated Hurst L.D. Bell 8-1 on Thursday at the Spring Break Classic.

Lara led off the fourth inning with a homer tying her with Jessica Portales, who hit six for the Lady Vikings from 1992-95.

Bryan also beat Grandview 6-0 in the Classic. Emily Peirce and Brooke Parker combined on a five-inning no-hitter to defeat Class 2A's sixth-ranked team. Jennifer Kasper led off the fifth inning with her third home run of the season. Peirce was 3 for 3 with a double.

Bryan will play a nondistrict game at Flower Mound at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
