BASEBALL

Consol wins Pearland Tournament: PEARLAND -- A&M Consolidated swept two games Saturday to win the Pearland Tournament, beating Pearland 2-1 and Fort Bend Clements 11-4.

Consol's Kevin Bishop (2-0) and Riley Ferrell held Pearland to one run on six hits against Pearland, while Andrew Brown hit a home run.

In the championship game, Cody Westbrook pitched six solid innings to pick up his first victory of the season, while Ford Moore led Consol (5-1) at the plate going 4 for 5 with two doubles.

Consol will play at Katy Cinco Ranch at 7 p.m. Monday.

Bryan finishes Classic with two victories: The Bryan baseball team closed out the Bryan Bomber Classic with two victories Saturday, beating Foster 6-5 and Montgomery 10-0 in five innings.

Bryan's Travis Gibson and Chandler Russell, both pulled from the JV squad for the Classic, each got victories in the games. Bryan's Krey Bratsen was 4-for-5 over the two games with a home run, double and five RBIs. Jacob Southerland had three stolen bases against Foster, and Colin Fry had four steals against Montgomery.

Bryan (5-1-1) will play at the Montgomery-Brenham Tournament on Thursday.

The Bryan JV (2-2) will host Brenham JV at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Blinn takes two from Laredo: BRENHAM -- The Blinn baseball team swept a doubleheader against Laredo on Saturday, winning 11-5 and 8-1.

In Game 1, the Bucs (9-7, 2-0) scored nine runs over the third through fifth innings to pull away. In Game 2, Blinn did it again, scoring seven runs over the third, fourth and fifth innings to break the game open.

GOLF

Bryan takes individual and team titles: WACO -- The Bryan boys golf team improved its second-day score by 21 strokes to claim the Heart of Texas Invitational at Waco's Cottonwood Creek Golf Course on Saturday.

The Vikings shot a second-round 311 to finish at 643 for the tournament. Gatesville finished second at 331-324-655.

Bryan's Sam Destefano won the individual title, edging Killeen Ellison's Robbie Shimmels with a 75-75-150 to Shimmels' 76-75-151.

Bryan's Clayton Hudson finished fourth at 82-75-157 and Cody Meier shot an 84-82-166 for ninth. Destefano, Hudson and Meier made the All-Tournament team.

Bryan's Lane Hudson shot 91-79-170 and tied for 16th, while Joey Micheletti shot 101-86-187 for 35th.

Bryan will compete in the Montgomery Invitational at April Sound on March 12-13.

SOFTBALL

Consol wins tournament title in extra inning: DRIPPING SPRINGS -- Jordan Berry drove in Kailey Smith and Jordan Bettiol with a double in the eighth inning to help give A&M Consolidated a 9-6 victory over Dripping Springs in the championship game of the Brittany Tuck Memorial Tournament on Saturday night.

Freshman Sarah Almand's three-run double opened up a six-run fifth inning for the Lady Tigers (9-1).

Dripping Springs scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game 6-6.

Sarah Halliwell (8-1) had five strikeouts in picking up the victory.

The Lady Tigers beat Cedar Park 11-1 in three innings earlier in the day. Bettiol had a home run in that contest.

Bettiol, Sarah Allison, Sydney Parks, Berry and Halliwell made the all-tournament team.

Consol (9-1) will host Belton at 7 p.m. Monday to open District 12-5A play.

Bryan loses late Friday: SAM MARCOS --Bryan gave up a three-run third inning to San Marcos and lost 5-1 late Friday night.

Jennifer Kasper (3-1) scored Bryan's lone run in the top of the seventh on a single by Jennifer Saxby. Saxby finished 3-for-3 with a double.

Bryan (5-2) will play at Harker Heights at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Consol girls shut out Shoemaker: The A&M Consolidated girls soccer team beat Killeen Shoemaker 3-0 on Friday night in District 12-5A action.

Vicky Wilhelm, Emily Smith and Mayra Patlan each scored goals for the Lady Tigers (13-5-1, 8-0-1). Goalkeepers Megan Eikenhorst and Christina Salas shared the shutout.

The Consol JV (10-0-1, 7-0-1) beat Shoemaker 10-0. Consol's Kalli Krivdo had a hat trick while Rebecca Chester, Taylor McGinnis, Emme Rettenmaier, Nicol Warren, Lindsay Allen, Karla Montes and Mary Beth Keating each scored a goal. Mary Inovejas, Megan Kriger, Katelyn Armatys, McGinnis, and Montes and assists, and goalkeepers Clare McDougall and Lindsay Allen shared the shutout.

Consol will play at Copperas Cove at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Bryan boys fall to Belton: BELTON -- The Bryan Viking soccer team fell to 5-4 in district play after a 3-1 loss to Belton on Friday night.

Jose Cortez scored the only goal for Bryan, with Fabian Guerrero getting an assist.

The Bryan JV finished in a 0-0 draw with Belton.

Bryan will play at Temple at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
