Bryan takes 1-0 lead over Lufkin into Game 2 of area series

The Bryan Vikings will resume their best-of-3 Class 5A area series against the Lufkin Panthers at 3 p.m. Saturday at Viking Field.

Seventh-ranked Bryan (29-4-1) posted a 6-1 victory in Game 1 on Thursday night behind Sean Weatherford's 13-strikeout five-hitter.

Game 3 will start 30 minutes after Game 2, if necessary.
