Behind a stellar pitching effort by Cassidy Brown and timely hitting throughout the lineup, Madisonville defeated Bryan National 23-5 in four innings Thursday at Weedon Ballpark in the 9- and 10-year-old girls District 33 All-Star tournament.

Madisonville will face Bryan Harvey at 7 p.m. Friday in the championship game. Madisonville must defeat Harvey two times in order to win the championship.

Emma Baker sparked Madisonville to a three-run first with Brown, Ashlyn Hahn and Samantha Vazquez each picking up RBIs in the inning.

Brown then took the mound for Madisonville and struck out four over two shutout innings, walking three.

Briana Garcia, Makenna Muth, Andy Jimenez, Tiana Fletcher and Melanye Zavala all scored for National in the third inning, but it wasn't enough to catch Madisonville.

Every Madisonville player scored at least one run as the team scored 20 runs in the final three innings, including 14 in the decisive fourth.

Baker finished with two triples, two walks, three runs and three RBIs.

Also for Madisonville, Shelby Harkrider knocked in three runs and scored three. Alley Grier had two RBIs and score a run in her two at-bats off the bench, while Megan Massey and Hannah Weisse also knocked in runs.
