Bryan's Kraatz among area athletes chosen for all-state softball

Bryan softball third baseman Meagan Kraatz has been named third-team all-state by the Texas Sports Writers Association.


Kraatz, a junior, batted .447, with two homers and six triples. Kraatz also drove in 35 runs and scored 39. She was successful on 15 of 17 steal attempts.


Bryan catcher Reagan Boenker and first baseman Roxy Alvarado were both on the honorable mention team.


Brenham's Alyssa Burnett was named second-team utility player on the Class 4A team. She batted .534 with 23 doubles and 54 runs scored, recording seven game-winning hits. She struck out once in 103 at bats. On the mound, Burnett posted a 3-0 record. She played half this season with a cast on her hand because of a broken pinky finger.


First baseman Sydney Wellmann and second baseman Alli Spivey were honorable mention for the Lady Cubs. Kayla Garcia of Navasota was honorable mention in Class 3A.


Anderson-Shiro's Jacie Countryman was selected for the 2A second team and teammate Julie Slaughter was third team as a utility player.


Countryman hit .450 and had 31 stolen bases without being thrown out. Slaughter hit .558 with 14 doubles and 35 RBIs. She played pitcher, third base, first base and outfield.


Lexington had two honorable mention selections, pitcher Courtney Robertson with Haley Jatzlau at second base.


In Class A, Burton's Caitlyn Blakey was a second-team outfielder. She batted .425 with 19 RBIs, two homers and five doubles.


North Zulch pitcher Erin Diserens was named honorable mention, along with Burton's Megan Rollins, who was a utility player.


Former A&M Consolidated pitcher Summer Groholski was a first-team pitcher for Grapeland.
