Texas Grand Slam wraps up

The top seeds won three age group championship matches and lost two as the Capsher Texas Grand Slam finished its eight-day run Friday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.

No. 1 seed Harrison Adams of New Braunfels captured the title in the Boys 18 Singles bracket with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over fifth-seeded Michael Riechmann from Houston. Jeffrey Offerdahl beat Stuart Kenyo 1-6, 7-6 (1), 6-2 in the third-place match.

In the division with the most entries, Boys 16 Singles, top-seeded Bayo Phillips defeated No. 5 William Jou in a battle of Houston players, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (4). Earlier in the tournament, Phillips rallied for a three-set win over College Station's Frankie Colunga. Ian Dempster beat Grant Reichmann for third place, 1-6, 6-2, 6-0.

Third-seeded Emanuel Llamas of Irving battled back for a 1-6, 6-2, 6-0 victory over No. 1 seed Grayson Broadus of Carrollton in Boys 14 Singles. Jean Thirouin beat Eric Rutledge 6-1, 6-3 for third.

The Boys 12 final paired the top seeds, with No. 2 King Roy of San Antonio rallying to beat Zeb Zheng of Sugar Land 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4. Unseeded Christopher Muniz claimed third place with a 6-2, 6-2 win over No. 4 Eric Morris.

In Girls 12 Singles the top seed Anna Bright of Forth Worth captured the championship with a 6-4, 6-2 victory against No. 2 seed Danielle Quevedo of Tyler. Marina Cozac took third place with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Hannah Sutton.

The Girls 14 title went to third seed Sydney Riley of Dallas, who beat No. 2 Abigail Chiu of Austin 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday.
